Information shared with a therapist and all treatment records pertaining to you and your family are protected by the Illinois Mental Health Act, which provides for strict adherence to procedures relating to confidentiality. We do not release information to anyone, including insurance companies, without the express written permission of the client.
Certain exceptions to this Confidentiality Act apply. Under Illinois law, a therapist is required to disclose information that would prevent injury to the client or other third party. Therapists also are required to report instances of suspected abuse or neglect of children.
